Hijacked

The email gremlins got me. Some hacker got into my email account and then used it to send spam. I can thank my lucky stars it was a harmless message about some electronics equipment or something like that. Because it seems they sent it to my ENTIRE address book. Complete with my automatic signature. Which includes a link to this here blog. So if that's why you're here, then I'M TERRIBLY SORRY for that weird message. THAT WASN'T ME!

How did I find out? Did anybody complain? No. Amazingly, I have not received a single complaint. But, since I almost never update my address book, as in purge old worthless no-longer-working email addresses, I'm getting a bunch of "failure notices". Lot's of them, actually.

The first thing I did was change my password. Then I went to my "important information" folder, and changed all those old passwords. Then I went to the SENT folder, to see the damage.

At least it wasn't porn. At least it wasn't porn. At least it wasn't porn. At least it wasn't porn.

If you know anybody that plays those kind of dirty tricks, that hacks into strangers emails just to mess with them. SMACK them good for me, will ya?

Wow! I didn't know that could be done. I'm an innocent in cyberspace. How horrible!

This is one place where being paranoid is good. If you think it can happen, someone else out there probably is figuring out how.
